Too many pesticides in ditches and canals: Facts on pesticides in surface waters in the Dutch province Drenthe

The surface water in Drenthe is heavily polluted with pesticides, while about half of these has been classified as “dangerous”.

Drenthe is a province in the Netherlands with very vulnerable grounds which allows for the dispersion of pesticides into the water. Existing measures are not sufficient to protect the quality of the water. In addition, Drenthe scores very low in sustainable agriculture.
