What we do
What we do
At WECF, we believe that working towards a sustainable future and protecting the environment requires holistic solutions that reflect the lived experiences of people across all regions of the world. This is why growing and strengthening our ecofeminist network is crucial to our work. As an ecofeminist network, we are committed to amplifying the work of women-led and feminist organisations that are addressing the triple planetary crisis and proposing transformative, community-driven alternatives.
We believe that there is a strong need for ensure that women, in all their diversity, and marginalised groups, are given a seat at the policy table while also supporting grassroots actions that align with their own priorities. Through our Ecofeminist Movement Building Fund, we aim to strengthen our network’s work on sustainable development, climate action, and the creation of a toxic-free environment through advocacy and localised efforts.
Focus areas
In 2021, WECF launched the Ecofeminist Movement Building Fund, supported by the Nationale Postcode Loterij, offering small grants to ecofeminist organisations in countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia and Georgia.
2022, saw an expansion of our supported projects with a particular focus on the Eastern European, Caucasus and Central Asian/Asian regions, recognizing the increased challenges faced by (eco)feminist groups in this area, largely due to the Russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine.
In 2023 and 2024, we were able to continue our efforts with the Ecofeminist Movement Building Fund both in the EU and globally, thanks to additional funding. This has resulted in successful collaborations with over 25 organisations, each bringing unique knowledge and practices to the table.
