What we do

GENDER4POWER runs for four years and aims to improve the living conditions of people affected by energy poverty in Austria, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Slovenia and Spain, through renewable energy solutions. To do so, the consortium will adopt a holistic, citizen-led, gender-transformative and multi stakeholders’ approach.

GENDER4POWER will:

👉 Apply gender mainstreaming and inclusive approaches along the project

👉 Analyse and develop gender-just models for alleviating energy poverty (funding models, inclusive energy communities, renovation models, etc.)

👉 Implement an ambassador program to build community trust, amplify impacts and increase participation of groups affected by energy poverty

👉 Run a tailored capacity building program for a variety of target groups (citizens, authorities and other intermediaries)

👉 Co-develop renewable energy solutions and test them with citizens to improve their living conditions

👉 Develop gender-just policy recommendations at national level and EU level

In this project, WECF Deutschland will bring its expertise on the gender dimensions of energy poverty. We will coordinate an ambassador program as well as various capacity building actions for groups that are traditionally left out of the energy transition debates, as well as for other relevant intermediaries (e.g., authorities, housing association, etc.). WECF will implement GENDER4POWER activities in the context of Germany.
