EP Elections 2024 -WECF’s EU Ecofeminist Scorecard Webinar 3: Pesticides, Chemicals & Toxic Free Periods

On the last days before the European Elections 2024, it is important to involve (young) people as their voting will have a major impact on the outcome! Their voices are important for the future of the EU.

Our  EU Elections Toolkit available in English, Dutch, Portuguese, German, French and Spanish can be your devoted guide in this journey!  Along with our Ecofeminist Scorecard, which can help you get a clear idea of the important topics and who is involved in what.

Over the last month, we discussed key themes central to the Scorecard. On Thursday 23rd of May, we highlighted some of the issues of Agriculture & Hazardous Chemicals:

  • Clara Kraske presented the German Ecofeminist scorecard, highlighting how the different German parties score on a toxic-free future. Only the left (Die Linke) and the Greens (Die Grüne) scored positive on this aspect.
  • Nataliia Svrtan presented (Pesticide Action Network) PAN Europe’s campaign towards the EU Elections. Their work regarding the elections has been to inform citizens of candidates’ standpoints regarding agriculture, pesticide use, the environment, and citizens’ health. Also, they put in effort to educate new MEPs on pesticide issues and ask the Commission to prepare a new proposal for pesticide reduction.
  • The last speaker, Ana Mileusnic, talked about a new initiative MENSY. The project aims to create a cohesive suite of training resources on menstruation and sustainability, which can be scaled up for use on a European level and beyond. She addressed the survey and highlighted why menstrual health is also a very important topic in this EU election.
