Let’s stop the plastic flood – join in!
A participatory tool for environmental and health protection | For youth work, schools and more!
We are suffocating in plastic. Plastic in packaging, containers for take-away food, textiles made of plastic materials and plastic in cosmetics etc. are just a small selection of the places where we encounter plastic. Over 450 million tonnes are produced worldwide every year. In 1950, this figure was 1.5 tonnes. The extreme increase in the production, use and waste of plastic contributes to human-made climate change, as the production of plastic requires a lot of energy and has high CO2 emissions. We are littering our planet with waste and jeopardising our health, as plastic contains many chemicals that are harmful to the environment and our health and with which we come into contact in various ways.
In order to sensitise young people to the topics of plastic, environment and health, and develop solutions to the plastic crisis, we developed the WECF Plastic Tool. Find it below, updated in its second edition.
Who is this tool for?
This tool is aimed at teachers and people working with children and youth. It is suitable for young people between the ages of 11 and16 (grades 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10). Even though the texts and speeches are aimed at pupils and teachers, the plastic tool can be used in other contexts, such as youth work.
