WECF and Women’s Major Group view for UNEP on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

In the recent issue of Perspectives, a publication of the UNEP, WECF’s Sascha Gabizon and the Women’s Major Group shared their perspectives on the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.

WECF’s executive director Sascha Gabizon is the main author of the publication, which focuses on why environmental sustainabilitly and gender equality are so important for reducing poverty and inequalities. The paper is split into three sections, an introduction, a section on the Post-2015 development agenda and finally a section which looks at financial and non-financial means of implementation.

This article focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda from the perspective of the women major group. The article is split into three sections; 1) Introduction, 2) Post-2015 development agenda and the SDGs, and 3) Financial and non-financial means of implementation. The introduction highlights women’s undervalued contributions to the care economy, whilst section 2 describes the role of women in the SDGs, and considers the monitoring and accountability of Agenda 2030. Finally, section 3 looks at the implementation of Agenda 2030, with a particular emphasis on gender and technology.
