Gender & Forests Internship

Would you like to contribute to gender justice across different regions of the world? Do you also believe that we need climate and forest policies that address structural inequalities? Are you interested in joining an international team?

Then this internship is perfect for you!

We are looking for an intern that supports our work as gender partner of the Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA). The intern will support the project coordinator with the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the program. The ‘Forests for a Just Future’ program of GLA aims to ensure that tropical forests and forest landscapes are sustainably and inclusively governed to mitigate and adapt to climate change, fulfil human rights and safeguard local livelihoods. WECF’s role is to strengthen capacity, promote and monitor the gender transformative implementation of the program.

We are a non-profit network dedicated to a gender just and healthy planet for all. Our international network consists of over 150 women’s and civil society organisations in 50 countries. We believe that a sustainable future and environment needs feminist solutions reflecting the lives of people on the ground. That is why we work on transformative gender equality and women’s human rights in interconnection with sustainable development and climate justice.

Who are you?

  • You are a (international) student, studying in the field of forest management and conservation, international development, geography, gender studies, sustainability or any other study that is relevant
  • You are interested in climate issues, forests and gender equality
  • You would like to learn about project management
  • You already have some experience with organizing activities
  • You are looking for an internship in an international civil society organization
  • You are fluent in English (CEFR: C1-C2). Dutch, French and / or Spanish are a pro.

What do we offer?

  • We encourage international students to apply for an Erasmus+ grant. If this is not available, we offer a fee of €150 a month
  • Being part of an enthusiastic and international team in the center of Utrecht, currently working remotely due to COVID-19
  • Get more insight in gender equality and sustainable forest conservation from a feminist perspective
  • Learning experience on how to implement a project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Tasks

The Gender & Forests intern would support the project coordinator in the overall project management of the programme.

Tasks:

  • Help with the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the programme, including developing and spreading gender assessments
  • Support coordination with our partners in 6+ countries
  • Strengthen online visibility and outreach of the successes of the programme and WECF in general on the website and on social media
  • Help organizing advocacy meetings with policy makers
  • General support to the activities of the international WECF team

When? This internship is for 24 hrs a week and lasts until the end of July. Starting date is in principle 22nd March 2021, but can be changed in consultation.
