We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Communications Officer (fluent in Dutch and English) for our Office in Utrecht, the Netherlands to strengthen our digital presence and amplify the voice of the ecofeminist movement.
This role requires a strategic, proactive, and detail-oriented communicator, with interest in environmental policies and with a strong grasp of digital tools, editorial skills, and affiliation with to intersectional feminism and environmental justice.
Whilst working with an international team, this role will mainly focus on engaging target groups, such as young people interested in ecofeminism and policy makers in The Netherlands working on environmental, toxic-free, policies.

We believe that a sustainable and equitable future needs ecofeminist solutions led by the people who are at the frontlines of the multiple crises we face. That is why we work on transformative gender equality and women’s rights in interconnection with sustainable development and climate justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Execute Communication Strategies: Create and implement a comprehensive online communications strategy for WECF’s audiences in the Netherlands, aligning with our mission and advocacy goals and in cooperation with our WECF International communications coordinator
- Content Creation and Digital Management:
- Social media & Website: Develop, edit, and publish content for WECF’s websites (WordPress), social media channels, and newsletters in Dutch using scheduling software such as Later.
- Graphic Design: Design engaging visuals and graphics using Adobe InDesign, Canva, and video editing tools for campaigns, events, and other key initiatives.
- Create campaign messages and formats for activities taking place in the Netherlands, with a focus on toxic-free future actions.
- Project specific communication and coordination: Spotlight the work of projects like “Toxic Free Future” and “Building the Ecofeminist Movement in Europe” and coordinate visibility and engagement with Dutch and EU partner organizations.
- Press and Media: Draft and review press releases and news articles, coordinate media outreach, and serve as a press contact.
- Coordinate visibility events with policy makers and capacity building with other target groups on environmental policies and toxic-free future in the Netherlands and EU
- Collaborate with Project Teams: Coordinate with project staff to integrate their work into WECF’s communication strategy, ensuring consistent promotion of project activities with a focus on the Netherlands.
- Campaign Management: Organize and promote online and offline events, including fundraising campaigns, to maximize WECF’s outreach and impact, with a focus on the Netherlands.
- Analytics and Optimization: Leverage Google Analytics and digital advertising to monitor and optimize outreach, adjusting strategies based on insights.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in communications, digital content creation, journalism, marketing, or international campaigns. Preference for those with project management experience and a strong knack for design and content development.
- Editorial and Writing Skills: Proficiency in writing and editing for both digital and print media, with an ability to translate complex topics into accessible and engaging content aimed at different target groups. Knowledge of branding and corporate identity (CI) management.
- Technical Proficiency: Adobe Suite and Canva: Expertise in Adobe InDesign, Canva, and video editing software to create high-quality, visually appealing digital and print materials.
- Website Management: Solid experience with WordPress content management, including basic SEO knowledge.
- Social media & Analytics: Proven experience managing social media platforms, optimizing outreach with Google Analytics, and utilizing digital advertising.
- Political Awareness: Familiarity and affinity with intersectional feminism, ecofeminist perspectives, and international policy, with a specific interest in sustainable development, climate, and environmental issues.
- Project & Event Management: Strong skills in organizing and promoting events, online campaigns, and fundraising initiatives, while ensuring alignment with WECF’s project and partner needs.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with colleagues who are involved in various projects and respond quickly to cover the diversity of our topics.
- Strategic Thinking & Initiative: Creative, strategic, and proactive, with strong attention to detail and an ability to adapt quickly to new trends and tools.
- Language Skills: Fluent and professional proficiency in Dutch, and professional level of English. Additional fluency in German, French, or Spanish is an advantage.
- Location: Based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate, with a valid work permit.

- Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options with our main office centrally located in Utrecht (walking distance from Utrecht Central Station) with comprehensive commuting allowances (public transport, 2nd class) and remote work compensation.
- A contract for a year with a trial period of one month, for 32 hours per week. The full-time salary (40 hours) is €2350-2600 per month, which is negotiable based on experience.
