Are you passionate about using communication and campaigning to leverage transformative change in environmental and gender justice? Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) seeks a creative, experienced Communication Coordinator to enhance our visibility and articulate our vision and mission through strategic communication efforts across our global offices, including Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Georgia as well as our ecofeminist network members are based in over 50 countries. You will be based at our head office in Utrecht, Netherlands.

We are a non-profit network dedicated to a gender-just and healthy planet for all. Our international network consists of over 250 women’s and civil society organisations in 70 countries. We believe that a sustainable and equitable future needs feminist solutions led by the people who are at the frontlines of the multiple crises we face. That is why we work on transformative gender equality and women’s rights in interconnection with sustainable development and climate justice.
Role Overview
- Develop and implement a global communication strategy that elevates WECF’s profile and mission.
- Coordinate communication activities across multiple offices to build joint narratives and maintain consistency in our messaging.
- Generate and oversee content for our websites and social media platforms, ensuring alignment with global themes and local activities.
- Produce and manage high-quality content that effectively showcases WECF’s initiatives and achievements including annual reports, social media graphics, website articles, opinion-pieces on external platforms etc.
- Spearhead online fundraising initiatives and manage campaigning during critical political events, and UN Conferences, in collaboration with our international Advocacy teams.
- Support and enhance the visibility of international project activities, including major initiatives campaigns like Building the Ecofeminist Movement, WomenPower2030, Gender Just Climate Solutions, Toxic Free Future programs.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance the visibility of WECF’s work and its partners.
- Monitor and analyze communication strategies and results, initiating improvements, implementing and adapting strategies as necessary.
- Improve our traditional media efforts, through building a network of trusted journalists, and facilitate narrative change initiatives.
- Continuous capacity building of our teams and partners on risks and opportunities of new technologies including AI for intersectional, decolonial and ecofeminist communication
Ideal Candidate
- Is creative, has strong understanding of intersectional feminism and environmental justice.
- Can illustrate communication expertise, either through an educational background in communication, journalism and marketing (or similar), and/or has at least 3 years of working experience (either institutional or through social movements and collective work). Excellent proficiency in English; additional fluency in Dutch, German, French, or Spanish is advantageous but not necessary.
- Expertise in digital content creation, social media management, and the use of tools such as Canva, or Adobe InDesign, and video editing software is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and a strategic thinker with a knack for creativity and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage communication projects, with a preference for those who have led international campaigns.
- Good understanding of the ecofeminist movement and ability to engage with the new wave of intersectional and committed feminism.
- Exceptional skills in promoting events and online fundraising campaigns.
- Strong editorial skills with ability to translate complex policy language into engaging content.
- Quick at learning: (and picking up) new social media trends and developments; content management systems (especially WordPress).
- With a proven ability to optimize outreach and engagement through Google Analytics and digital advertising.
- Based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate and has necessary permit to work in the EU

- A contract for a year with a trial period of one month, for 32 hours per week. The full-time salary (40 hours) is €3, 600 gross per month, which is negotiable based on experience.
