UNEA5.2 Green Tent Event – Gender Dimensions of the Implementation of Chemicals and (Plastic) Waste Policies

WECF and its partners CEJAD Kenya and AEEFG Tunisia are proud to invite you to the UN Environment Assembly Green Tent event, on Tuesday the 1st of March (17:00-18:30 GMT+3), at the UN Campus in Nairobi.

At UNEA5.2., governments are negotiating policies to reduce pollution from chemicals and waste, and to move to a green and circular economy. This transition creates opportunities for new jobs and innovation, and reduces health costs. Do governments have enough information on the differentiated impacts on women and men impacted by chemicals and waste in their work and communities? How can the implementation of the BRS Convention Gender Action Plan support an inclusive transition? This event will present the preliminary results of the scoping-studies on the gender dimensions of chemical and waste policies in Kenya and Tunisia that have been carried out the last months, and share good practices of inclusive and gender-equitable policies and programmes.

The event is open to all interested participants attending UNEA5.2. in person, as well as to participants online. The working language is English. Please do join the hybrid UNEA5.2 Green Tent event “Gender Dimensions of the Implementation of Chemicals and (Plastic) Waste Policies Protecting Vulnerable Groups and the Environment” either live in the press room or online via Zoom.
