Sign feminist joint statement on UN’s financial collapse
The United Nations is facing a severe financial crisis that threatens its ability to function within months. After more than a year of warnings from the Secretary-General, continued underfunding and delayed payments by powerful Member States are now putting core UN operations at risk at a moment of overlapping global crises.
In response, feminist civil society organisations and allied groups working with and around the UN have come together to issue a joint feminist statement calling for urgent action to prevent institutional collapse, defend multilateral cooperation, and ensure that UN reform is not driven by financial coercion.
The statement is intended to complement other feminist statements and initiatives responding to the current crisis. Together, these interventions form part of a broader collective effort to defend multilateralism, democratic global governance, and the UN’s ability to act on gender equality, human rights, peace, and climate justice.
