21 November: Beyond the Enhanced Lima Work Programme and the Gender Action Plan: What does gender-transformative climate action truly look like?

The climate crisis exists in an unequal world: Women, girls and gender-diverse people – particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Colour – are disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis, while driving the solutions for climate justice. Therefore, the climate crisis must be approached from an intersectional feminist perspective.

This interactive side event in the second week of COP29 will analyse the course of negotiations, results and implications regarding the final review of the implementation of the enhanced Lima work programme and its Gender Action Plan. This will be done through an international exchange involving feminist climate justice activists and National Gender and Climate Change Focal Points from different regions. The idea is to discuss both contentious issues and opportunities, while providing countries like Germany the chance to learn from others that have long-standing National Gender and Climate Change Focal Points and National Gender Action Plans.

Date: Thursday 21 November

Time (UTC+4): 18:30 – 20:00

Venue: German Climate Pavilion
