Letter to Ursula von der Leyen to Stay on track with REACH and CLP Reforms.

In a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, Frans Timmermans, and other EU decision-makers, we call, as part of a large group of NGOs and environmental organisations, upon the European Commission to stay on track with the plans for the REACH and CLP Reforms. The letter emphasizes the crucial importance to keep working toward the realization of the zero pollution vision by swiftly putting the detoxification and decarbonization goals of the EU’s Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability into action.

The planned reforms on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation and the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Directive need to be accomplished with urgency. Currently, hazardous substances in our environment are causing serious consequences for our health and the environment. Especially, (unborn) children and (pregnant) women are vulnerable to the excessive pollution of the toxic chemicals that surrounds us.

The promised revisions are an opportunity to better protect EU citizens, and it is absolutely crucial to stay on track to accomplish these revisions without delay.
