Invitation: Green Deal Arena to co-create a fair & sustainable Europe

July 25, 2022

What does (and should) the Green Deal say about the role of people and society? Who is already ‘out there’ in Europe contributing to Green Deal objectives in practice? How can organisations co-create transition pathways for just and sustainable change?

These are some of the questions that will be addressed on October 4, 2022, in Brussels at the “Green Deal Transition Arena”, a co-creative workshop held in the framework of the EU-funded “SHARED GREEN DEAL” Project, of which WECF is a partner.

The event aims to bring together local movements, policymakers, and research institutions with high-level expertise to explore how to co-create a fair and sustainable future pathway to bring a just transition across Europe.

It is time to go beyond the EU Green Deal by deliberating on the role of people and societies, objectives, and finding the people/organisations already working towards our mutual goals. SHARED GREEN DEAL aims to work at the meso-level – the dimensions and infrastructures that connect and influence change at both the individual and the collective level, such as communities and organizations. So, the Transition Arena is an opportunity to get a further insight on ‘How to’ create middle grounds and ‘How can’ the organisations do so.

As a partner organisation, we invite all grassroots, women-led and gender equality organisations working on the European Green Deal ambitions (clean energy, circular economy, efficient renovations, sustainable mobility, sustainable food, preserving biodiversity, climate action, and zero pollution) to join the Transition Arena in Brussels or online. This is an opportunity to interact with policy workers, scientists, research institutes, representatives of H2020 Projects, leads of bottom-up initiatives and local movements to learn more about sustainable transitions. Participants will also gain insights on upcoming project activities including funding opportunities to run regional/local engagement programmes.
