Internship opportunity – Gender and Climate programmes at Women Engage for a Common Future

Are you interested in environmental justice, climate policy, and gender equality? Are you a fixer and organizer? Would you like to gain experience working for an international organization? Then join WECF through an internship based in our German office in Munich and contribute to our ecofeminist campaigns and actions!

Are you the person we are looking for? 

  • You are studying and/or looking for work experience, you must complete a mandatory internship 
  • You have an excellent command of English (German, French, or Spanish is an asset) 
  • You are a communicative jack-of-all-trades, social media crazy, and like to get creative! (knowledge of social media platforms/trends and visual design/video editing skills are a large asset) 
  • You are good at writing texts and like to experiment with storytelling 
  • You like the fact that no day is ever the same and you need to be able to switch quickly 
  • You are looking for a versatile internship with an international, social organization 
  • You are interested in gender justice, climate action, the United Nations & the upcoming COP29  

 

Who we are? 

WECF (Women Engage for a Common Future) is a network of more than 100 ecofeminist members in over 50 countries and over 150 strategic partners from 70 countries. Our goal is to strengthen women’s leadership and gender equality in the field of sustainability. Our work is structured around 3 main pillars: feminist action for sustainable development, feminist action for climate and energy solutions and feminist action for a toxic free future. With our activities focused on capacity building, policy advocacy and movement building, we strengthen the position of women worldwide. 

 

The gender and climate policy team 

Our team is composed of international experts with diverse backgrounds. We focus on integrating gender justice in the UN Climate negotiations through advocacy and campaigning work, by showcasing and supporting Gender Just Climate initiatives that are transforming and changing the current narratives, and by building capacities.  

 

Work 

You will support the gender and climate advocacy team in implementing the different aspects of the Gender Just Climate Solutions project, with a focus on communications support. To this end, you will also regularly contact our international Communications Officer Gaia Zanaboni (she/her).  

Tasks will include: 

  • Developing campaigns for social media (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok) 
  • Translating and writing articles for the website 
  • Supporting the call for applications of the Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards 
  • Supporting the organization of our & our partner’s participation at COP29 
  • Supporting the development of advocacy and policy documents 
  • Editing of digital newsletter, video editing, graphics

When is the internship?  

The internship is for 25-35 hours per week and minimum 6 months – possibility to extend.
