Help girls in Kunduz become self-sufficient
Katachel, our long term partner in Afghanistan, initiated a sewing project for young women and girls in Kunduz, Afghanistan in 2012 to provide proper long-term prospects for women and their families and sustainable development.
Since the start, over 2000 young girls and women have been trained to become seamstresses and have had the chance to improve their own situation. After passing the qualification and being handed over a certificate, they each receive their own sewing machine from the association Katachel. Despite the difficult security situation the people of Kunduz face, the training is very successful as it enables girls and women to become self-sufficient. Since 2012, young girls and women have been trained to become seamstresses in 4 courses of 3 months each. Since 2013 over 2000 girls have had a chance to improve their own existence. Once they pass the qualification and are handed the certificate, they each receive their own sewing machine from our association.
To be able to continue this work Katachel needs new funding.
