Women Making Waves: How FFP can accelerate climate and water action in the African region

1 November 2023 @ 11:00 - 12:15 CET

Shaping Feminist Foreign Policy Conference

Event in English; only accesible for registerd visitors of MoFa SFFP Conference

Water issues are becoming more prevalent due to the climate emergency while exacerbating existing inequalities and crises. Therefore, it is a relevant case to explore the wide variety of issues that an intersectional FFP should be able to tackle. We explore 5 key challenges: drought, flooding, pollution, extraction and conflict. In this lively talk show, African experts will share challenges and feminist solutions for and by the region. Together, we will explore how an intersectional FFP can enable Dutch water actions and climate policies to be gender-just for the African continent.

Structure

We will organise an interactive discussion in the form of a talk show, with inspiring video impact stories and audience participation. A live artist will draw the conversations and show how the different topics are related. In the end we should have a fully fledged layout of the connections between gender equality, water issues and climate change impacts in the African Region and how a FFP could cater to these local realities.
