Rising temperatures are increasingly shaping everyday life across Europe. From the energy we use to cool our homes to the conditions of our housing and access to public support, the ability to cope with heat is not the same for everyone. Heatwaves reveal and deepen existing social inequalities, affecting people differently depending on income, age, gender, care responsibilities, and where they live.
Join WECF for our last interactive online lunch webinar in this webinar series, where we connect experiences of summer heat with broader environmental and social challenges. Together, we will explore what fair and sustainable adaptation to rising temperatures could look like.
In our upcoming interactive webinar, we will look at:
We will be joined by Islene Façanha, Project Manager & Policy Officer at ZERO, an organisation based on Energy Poverty in Portugal. She has experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and strategy development within the sustainability and climate change sector. Our second speaker will be Erman Erogan, Policy and campaign officer at Climate Action Network Europe, working on policies for a just and ambitious decarbonization of the Built Environment, notably through the coordination of the Build Better Lives campaign that unites social justice, housing, climate, and youth civil society organisations. Together, they will highlight the summer angle of energy poverty and how to tackle it.
This will be an interactive webinar where participants will have the opportunity to engage with each other through polls and discussions, sharing experiences and reflecting on how heatwaves are experienced across different European contexts.
