The Irene Dankelman Young Ecofeminist Award

The “Irene Dankelman Young Ecofeminist” award aims to recognise and amplify the transformative efforts of emerging ecofeminist leaders striving to create a more just and sustainable world.

Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), the International Union for Conservation of Nature Netherlands (IUCN NL), and Both ENDS created the award in honour of Irene Dankelman’s exceptional dedication and pioneering contributions at the nexus of environmental sustainability and feminist principles.

The three award winners are chosen by a selection committee which consists of six members. These are:

1. Anna Plotnikova
2. Fatoumata Kiné Niang Mbodji
3. Marielle Metzger
4. Marta Esber
5. Nada Elbohi
6. Valentina Figuera Martínez

Inaugural award winners will have the opportunity to share their work during a hybrid awards ceremony which will take place at the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16) in Cali, Colombia.

Join us in celebrating these young ecofeminists from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Lets learn from them and share their lessons and recommendations with decision makers at COP16!
