🌳 Feminist Forest Frameworks launch event

26 October 2022 @ 14:30 CEST

As part of our engagement as gender technical partners of the Green Livelihoods Alliance ‘Forests for a Just Future’ programme, in recent months Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) has conducted a feminist analysis of key forest and biodiversity policies, regulations, and strategies of the Dutch government, plus policies and agreements in which the Netherlands is engaged at the EU and international level. We find that there are many gendered dimensions to forest and biodiversity conservation, restoration and sustainable governance, yet there is still not enough attention being paid to this in current policy-making.

We are now happy to share the registration link for the launch of our policy briefing ‘Feminist Forest Frameworks: Why gender matters for Dutch forest and biodiversity policy’, which will take place on Wednesday 26 October at 14:30 CEST. More details will follow about the agenda in due course but during the event we plan to present our key findings and recommendations, plus spark the start of a conversation between various stakeholders including Dutch government representatives, NGOs, Indigenous people and local communities (IPLCs), activists and scholars.

Women in all their diversity, particularly Indigenous and local women, are key agents of change when it comes to tackling the forest and biodiversity loss crises. Together, let’s move towards ensuring that their voices and solutions are meaningfully included at all levels of policy-making, by committing to gender-responsive, inclusive and just policies!

In the registration form linked under “website” below, there is an option for you to indicate any accessibility needs and/or interpretation. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
