Gender impact assessment and monitoring tool

Our gender impact assessment and monitoring tool (GIM tool) has been developed in the framework of the Women2030 programme, with the explicit objective of helping women and gender civil society organisations to implement the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a particular focus on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5. The 2030 Agenda was built on the foundation of and expands upon the Millennium Development Goals by promoting sustainable development, human rights and gender equality in the economic, social and environmental realms.

The aim of the tool

  • To provide Women2030 partners with a common understanding of how to assess gender issues within local, regional and national contexts, in order to create a sound basis of comparable data for the project Women2030 and laying the groundwork for gender just implementation of the SDGs. Furthermore, monitoring is an ongoing systematic process of assessing and measuring achievements towards the agreed-upon aspects of the SDGs in regard to gender equity.
  • To this end, Women2030 with this tool adopts a gender-responsive monitoring approach, which allows all partners to measure gender sensitive indicators of each SDG, and assess changes and progress over time.
