We are looking for a

project manager for our gender & climate policy team

As a global network, Women Engage for a Common Future strives for a healthy, equitable and sustainable world for all. Together with more than 150 partner organizations, we implement gender-responsive solutions and bring our knowledge and experience to bear in local, national and international policy. In this way, we empower women in particular to represent and realize their own democratic attitudes, interests, and also ideas for the future in the existing power systems of politics and business. WECF enables broader participation in political processes for sustainable development, and reinforces approaches to action in the areas of energy, agriculture, health and chemicals, and water and sanitation. The teams in the various locations in France, the Netherlands, Georgia and Germany work together across projects.

We are looking for a person who manages WECF’s Eco-Feminist Climate Solutions Programme in support of the UNFCCC policy work in conjunction with the Women Gender Constituency and the CAN  (Climate Action Network). A successful candidate will be tasked to consolidate the Gender Just Climate Solutions awards and mentoring programme and will add WECF’s expertise in gender and climate projects.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in environmental or social science, political science, environmental engineering, environmental management or sustainability management or public administration
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in an environmental related function, development program/project implementation
  • Experience working on women’s empowerment, gender equality issues
  • Technical knowledge of renewable energy, climate change adaptation, and climate change mitigation technologies
  • Ability to work in a team and be flexible with time
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills (MS Office, others).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish. Communication skills in French or German are an asset.

Your tasks

1/ GJCS awards and mentoring program

  • Contribute to establishing the yearly budget + funding strategy
  • Contribute to proposal-writing for the GJCS program, maintain good relations with donors
  • Coordinate the GJCS awards programme (yearly basis) with WGC members
  • Coordinate the edition and printing of the GJCS publication in 4 languages
  • Co-Design and deliver training programs/workshops/webinars on upscaling gender-responsive climate solutions that promote technology transfer and local development in the areas of renewable energy, agroecology systems, forest conservation, sustainable urban development, and more
  • Contribute to individual mentoring
  • Contribute to communications strategy, including social media

2/ Contributing to climate advocacy

  • Participate in WGC meetings and work, contribute to writing policy papers and submissions,
  • Communicate with UNFCCC secretariat, or observer-comms office, COP presidency team
  • Prepare and coordinate side events with multi stakeholder speakers (parties, UN bodies, NGO partners, etc.)

3/ General tasks

  • Assume an overall project management role, supporting the Policy Coordinator with technical expertise
  • Implement and further develop WECF activities on gender and climate change – policies and projects.
  • Participate in fundraising activities in close collaboration with the WECF team and partners.
  • Contribute to the numerous activities planned by WECF and the Women and Gender Constituency in the context of the UNFCCC climate conferences, preparation for COPs, participation in regular calls and online or physical events, among others.
  • Contribute to the production of high quality and accurate position papers and submissions, as well as reporting on gender-responsive climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies
  • Contribute to WECF’s social media activities (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), particularly on the topic of climate policy
  • Contribute to recruitment of interns or assistants, fill timesheets, UNFCCC events registrations, financial reports, expense statements for awardees or partners
  • Assist with general organizational tasks, including short-term tasks
