This event aims to support the efforts of BENELUX policy makers to achieve feminist and decolonial climate and energy policies through practical recommendations, and better cooperation with other Annex I countries.
The review process of the UNFCCC Gender Action Plan in 2022 has re-emphasised the need to focus on implementation, particularly at the national level. Decision 24/COP27 encourages parties and relevant organisations to strengthen the use of gender-disaggregated data and gender analysis in implementing climate policies, plans, strategies and action. The lack of gender perspectives and analyses constitutes a significant barrier to inclusive policy making by Global North countries, which impacts equitable implementation in Global South countries. Besides, most initiatives on (gender) data collection have focused on non-Annex I countries, whilst there exists an information gap for Annex I countries. This event aims at addressing this gap, establishing linkages with recent feminist policy developments. EU climate and energy policies remain un-feminist.
