The European Development Days
On the European Development Days in Brussels on 18 and 19 June, we hosted a booth where we presented the Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards, a yearly event we organise along with the Women and Gender Constituency at the global climate negotiations (UNFCCC COP).
For these Awards, we identify the most outstanding grassroots climate actions that have women leadership and promote gender-equality. Jointly with civil society and UN climate technology networks, we provide mentoring and support to bring these good practices to scale.
At the EDDs we also organised a successful panel discussion together with Cooperatives Europe on “how renewable energy cooperatives can tackle gender inequalities and environmental inequalities”. Katharina Habersbrunner, our programmes coordinator for sustainable energy and climate solutions, was part of the panel and talked about our work on implementing sustainable energy cooperatives which contribute to enhancing gender equality.
Furthermore, Anja Rühlemann, our project officer, presented the German shadow report on the state of SDG 10 (Fighting Inequalities) at an event organised by the European Environmental Bureau. The report, which also includes the shadow report regarding SDG 10 for The Netherlands, written by Chantal Van den Bossche, was produced in the framework of the project ‘Make Europe Sustainable for All’.
