Irene Dankelman receives Dutch Royal Decoration

We are proud to share the news that Irene Dankelman received a Dutch Royal decoration today!

Irene Dankelman received the ribbon for her knowledge and mentorship as an ecologist specializing in the field of gender and the environment, her tireless work for gender equality in environmental decision-making, and Irene’s support of women’s civil society environmental organizations.

Irene Dankelman has inspired entire generations of women environmental activists and is an important mentor to many of them, including through her professorship at Radboud University Nijmegen. She has published important academic books and articles that are used in education worldwide. Many of Irene Dankelman’s students have become leaders in various sectors and are contributing to a better world.

Director of WECF International, Sascha Gabizon, shares, “As a movement of women’s environmental organizations, we are deeply indebted to Irene Dankelman for her strategic vision, leadership and mentorship, and continued commitment and enthusiasm.”

We warmly congratulate Irene Dankelman on this well-deserved Royal decoration!
