International Communications Coordinator
Are you passionate about using communications, public relations and campaigning to leverage transformative change in environmental and gender justice. We are looking for a creative, experienced, Communications Coordinator to enhance our visibility and articulate our vision and mission through strategic communication efforts across our global offices, including Germany, the Netherlands, and France, as well as our network members/partners are based in over 70 countries.

Do you have a knack for crafting detailed communications campaigns, engaging with press strategically, and building cross-border networks to amplify gender and environmental justice? We are looking for a visionary, hands-on and experienced International Communications coordinator to join our team. You will work closely with teams across multiple countries, time-zones and themes, towards an ecofeminist, inclusive and impactful future.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and coordination
Institutional communications processes & structures: Lead the organizational communications strategy and processes, streamlining both external and internal communications structures and processes, such as branding consistency, media relations, the security and safety of the organization and fundraising, in collaboration with management and advocacy staff.
Work across offices: Coordinate communications activities and collaborations across multiple offices, including interoffice meetings, trainings and retreats, to ensure a joint narrative and consistency in our messaging.
Project and Partner Work: Participate, provide expertise and contribute to communications meetings with partners and colleagues, particularly those in joint consortiums or projects (e.g. WomenPower2030, Funding Fairer Futures), and ensure all our donor and partner communications requirements are met (i.e. logo visibility/branding).
Content Creation and Management
Design, Branding & Tools
- Develop and update institutional branded content (i.e. email signatures, report templates, annual reports, presentations etc.), ensuring they are in line with ecofeminist language and branding guidelines.
- Oversee and quality-check any content production (including video), within the organisation and the work of external consultants.
- Update and develop merchandise and relevant communications software/tools (i.e. t-shirts, microphones, etc.).
Website Management: Manage, update and produce content for our website (WordPress), i.e. articles, press releases, vacancies, etc.
Social media: Produce content and manage our social media platforms and newsletter.
Language & Accessibility: Coordinate translation, accessibility and adaptation of content across languages and cultural contexts, in line with ecofeminist language.
Analytics and Monitoring: Manage and develop robust analytics strategies to track performance, and monitor, assess risks and identify opportunities in developments in digital communications, social media and artificial intelligence.
Campaigning and Advocacy Support
Manage international communications during key moments (e.g. UNFCC, COPs, CSW, regional public summits), in collaboration with our advocacy staff. Provide support including rapid social media coverage, photography, press releases, etc.
Media, Press and Public Relations
Continue to build and maintain our relationships with the press, media and influencers, and identify opportunities to enhance the visibility of our work and that of our partners.
The Ideal Candidate
- Creative and strategic, with at least 5+ years of experience in communications, journalism, media, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work and manage communications projects, with a preference to those having led international campaigns.
- Experience and knowledge of gender and climate issues, NGOs, civil society and multi-lateral spaces, and inclusive, feminist communications approaches.
- Technical skills in graphical design, content creation with tools like Canva and Adobe, website editing (WordPress), video editing, and photography.
- Expertise in digital media and management, including social media management and analytics.
- Strong editorial skills and ability to translate complex policy language into engaging content.
- Strong media network and editorial experience, including work with journalists and writing for the press, and PR experience.
- Experience in event, fundraising and campaign coordination.
- Fluent in English (additional languages are an asset specifically Dutch, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese).
- Strong leadership and networking abilities to maintain relationships across offices, partners, and other stakeholders. Enthusiastic and can-do attitude!
- Strategic thinker with a strong eye for compelling media stories, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Quick at learning (and picking up) new social media trends and developments, and software.
- Based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate, and with necessary permits to work in the EU.
