SUMMARY:Half yearly Minisymposium on Substances of Very High Concern (Dutch only) dedicated to PFAS
DESCRIPTION:The Dutch Ministry of Environment organises every 6 months\, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs\, VNO-NCW\, the Chemicals Industry\, and WECF as representatives of civil society\, a minisymposium dedicated to the current state of affairs on REACH and SVHC. This minisymposium will be dedicated to PFAS\, otherwise known as the forever chemical\, and on behalf of civil society a representative of Stichting Tegengif/Erase All Toxins\, Annelies den Boer\, will give her view on PFAS in food packaging \n—- \nNa het online goed bezochte Minisymposium Stoffen over Veiligheidsinformatiebladen op 21 april 2021 staat nu het volgende minisymposium op 3 november 2021 van 13.00 tot 17.00 uur . Locatie: online \nHet Minisymposium Stoffen wordt georganiseerd door het Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat samen met VNO-NCW\, VNCI en WECF. Op het minisymposium stoffen van 3 november zal het thema Bronaanpak PFAS centraal staan. \nDe sprekers zullen vanuit verschillende invalshoeken naar dit onderwerp kijken. Namens de maatschappelijke en milieu-organisaties zal Annelies den Boer van Stichting Tegengif spreken. Zij stelt:“Wegwerpvoedselverpakkingen die in Europa op grote schaal worden gebruikt\, zitten vol PFAS. Zelfs verpakkingen die als biologisch afbreekbaar worden bestempeld. Dat blijkt uit het rapport ‘Throwaway packaging\, forever chemicals’ van Stichting Tegengif en 7 andere Europese consumenten- en milieuorganisaties dat deze zomer werd gepubliceerd. Vanwege de langdurige milieu- en gezondheidsschade pleiten zij voor een verbod op het gebruik van PFAS in verpakkingsmaterialen voor voedsel.” \nVanuit het RIVM zal een spreker ingaan op het proces rond de PFAS-restrictie en wat er voor nodig is om dat goed te laten verlopen.
