Intrinsically linked: gender equality, climate, and biodiversity

WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform, ActionAid, Both ENDS and WECF would like to invite you to this launch and informal discussion about the interlinkages of gender, climate, and biodiversity and the role the (new) Dutch government can take to actively address these links. In this session, we will:

• Launch our joint paper Intrinsically linked: gender equality, climate and biodiversity, which illustrates the intrinsic links between these three policy areas, and offers concrete proposals to the Dutch government to integrate these links.
• Hear from activists and women’s rights organizations working on biodiversity and climate solutions on the ground.
• Look back on the outcomes of the climate and biodiversity conferences and look ahead at the Commission on the Status of Women conference and UN Biodiversity COP
• Facilitate an interactive discussion with the audience about their experiences; how to ensure further linking and learning on these topics; and the actions the Dutch government could and should take.

From COP and the Convention on Biological Diversity to the CSW66

De klimaatcrisis is de grootste uitdaging van onze tijd. Wereldwijd spelen vrouwen een cruciale rol in de strijd voor verandering, zij zijn experts en zij leiden innovaties in belangrijke sectoren, zoals hernieuwbare energie en water-, bos- en landbeheer. Deze vrouwen en andere gemarginaliseerde groepen worden echter vaak uitgesloten van relevante besluitvormingsprocessen en
hebben weinig toegang tot financiële middelen.

Tijdens de Klimaattop van Glasgow, UNFCCC COP26, zijn nieuwe toezeggingen en vrijwillige toezeggingen van regeringen en de internationale gemeenschap. In januari volgend jaar zullen de onderhandelingen over biodiversiteit plaatsvinden voorafgaand aan de VN-top over biodiversiteit (CBD COP) van april-mei 2022. In maart zal de CSW zich richten op de raakvlakken tussen vrouwenrechten, gendergelijkheid, klimaat en milieu. Hoe kunnen deze belangrijke internationale conferenties van 2021 en 2022 bijdragen aan genderrechtvaardige klimaat- en milieuactie?

WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform, ActionAid, Both ENDS en WECF nodigen u uit voor de lancering van ons paper “Onlosmakelijk verbonden: gendergelijkheid, klimaat en biodiversiteit” (beschikbaar in het Nederlands en Engels) en informele discussie over de verwevenheid van gender, klimaat en biodiversiteit en de rol die de (nieuwe) Nederlandse regering kan nemen om deze verbanden actief aan te pakken. Deze bijeenkomst is in het engels.
